BVGEC - October 2020 Update
Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative
All members of the Board of Directors subscribed for Memberships in the Cooperative in late October, in order to allow for a Members’ meeting to be convened. The inaugural Members’ meeting was held on October 30, 2020. It had as its limited purpose the adoption of the Bylaws of the Cooperative. The Bylaws were adopted by a unanimous vote of the Members and will be filed in early November. These initial Bylaws may be amended by vote of the Members at any subsequent Members’ meeting.
The Finance and Administration committee is preparing the first subscription agreement and package. The committee is furthermore formalizing its accounting and bookkeeping processes in preparation for its first year-end.
The Communications and Promotions team is working to promote our new Friends of BVGEG volunteer initiative. The goal of which is to increase community awareness around our initiative, build our following and to recruit new volunteers. Interested? SIGN UP HERE!
The Governance team is organizing the final sign off of our draft Bylaws. The Bylaws have been reviewed by external council will be be in a condition to file with the regulator by mid-November.
The Membership and Stakeholder Engagement team is pleased to announce we are now inviting the community to become a Friend of the BVGEC. This allows us to start to broaden our network and invite the community to participate in our work. One way the community can help support our work and become an active volunteer in our organization is join one of our six committees. We are also building our Membership framework to attract investment unto our Cooperative. More information will be available on membership in Jan 2021
The Technology and Business Development team is evaluating a business plan for an Energy Marketing opportunity and evaluating granting opportunities.
The Project Development is developing a Request for Proposal/Quote (RFP/RFQ). It will be communicated with our qualified suppliers about 90 days prior to the start of a project.
