BVGEC - September 2020 Update
Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative
The Finance and Administration team is exploring the implication of alternative revenue streams on the core business operations. The team is furthermore assisting the Project Development team with the development of rate estimates for prospective host sites and assessing liability insurance requirements for different host scenarios.
The Communications and Promotions team is busy building out our branding strategy and updating our website to match. We are finalizing our friends application process and marketing materials ready for volunteer recruitment in the fall.
The Governance team has finalized our draft our draft Bylaws which have now have been reviewed by external counsel. We met with outside counsel and an accountant by video conference to discuss their comments and concerns. Counsel is to make a few final revisions to the draft and return them to us for one final review. The Bylaws should be in a condition to file with the regulator by mid-November.
The Membership and Stakeholder Engagement team has completed our "Supporter Framework". A document that describes how any supporter (individual or organization) can become a Member or Friend of the BVGEC. Choosing whether to become a Member or Friend is determined by how you want to participate in the organization, what you would like to contribute and how you would like to benefit. More information will be available on our website soon.
The Technology and Business Development team met at the end of September during which we received a presentation from The Town of Canmore’s Climate Change Specialist on the ‘State of renewable Energy in Canmore’. We are also evaluating and crafting a business plan for an Energy Marketing opportunity.
The Project Development committee has engaged a local community focused organization and is working closely with them to develop the process and agreements for our first host site!
