BVGEC - Nov 2020 - Volunteer!

Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative

The board is busy expanding our project development capacity and has created a joint committee with our first potential host to form an active working partnership. We are excited by the joint venture, more exciting news to come in early 2021!

  • The Finance and Administration committee, with support from our Investment Readiness Program funding, is setting up our accounting system and financial policies and procedures. In addition, the committee is enhancing the project evaluation template. leveraging the support of an external expert in this space.

  • The Communications and Promotions team is working on messaging to recruit new friends of BVGEC. We are also busy expanding the reach of BVGEC on social media and within our networks in preparation for a membership launch in early 2021 and crafting welcome packages for hosts, friends and members.

  • The Governance team has completed the final sign off of our draft Bylaws. The Bylaws have been reviewed by external council and have been filed with Service Alberta. They are also available to view on our website here!

  • The Membership and Stakeholder Engagement team has been busy asking our Subscribers to become Friends of BVGEC.

Our new Friends have made a commitment to help support the organization by volunteering, acting as a sounding board on various issues and initiatives and/or participating on one of our committees. There is no cost to becoming a Friend. You can easily join and simply observe and learn more about the organization or actively join in the conversation.

We hope you will join us, engage with our new friends, to learn more about the COOP, or even make a New Year's resolution or pledge to find out how you can support this inspiring, locally owned and community-driven organization.

  • The Technology and Business Development team is reviewing a revised business plan for becoming an Energy Marketer under the provincial regulations.

  • The Project Development committee has developed a Request for Proposal/Quote (RFP/RFQ) which has been issued to our four partner installers as part of our first project. Site visits have been organized and responses are due by Dec 17th.
