BVGEC - June 2021 - Business Development Opportunity
BVGEC was the recent recipient of a grant from the Co-operative Development Program, funded by the Co-operators!
We will be using these grant funds to build out a new business development opportunity that includes investigating our role as an Energy Marketer in partnership with Utility Net!
This partnership would allow BVGEC:
To become both an energy installer and provider to our host sites;
To expand our ability to provide energy, beyond our hosts' sites, to all residents and businesses of the Bow Valley;
To create a reliable and resilient revenue stream that will support the work of the co-op and development of new renewable energy projects;
To provide a more sustainable energy alternative that supports both greening the grid, local business development and community power generation.

We have several new initiatives on the go and we need your help.
Volunteers can support project teams by helping with research, marketing, bookkeeping, website updates, education, host liaisons and project management.

The Finance and Administration team has preparation BVGECs 2020 tax documentation ready for submission.
The Communications and Promotions team is working to create the communications materials in preparation for BVGECs first round of investment. More details coming soon!
We are happy to share that we have a new Friend to manage our social media feeds - welcome to the team, Cody!
The Governance team has been taking a well-deserved break in June in preparation for the contractual discussions to come with Utility Net.
The Membership and Stakeholder Engagement is finalising the new board member onboarding process and code of conduct agreements. The Membership Committee is also building out a new privacy and confidentiality policy. We currently have 39 Members and 35 Friends. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining BVGEC, please take a moment to share who we are and what we are doing!
We are also working on a proposal to automate our membership process and help with payment tracking using an online customer relationship database.
The Technology and Business Development is commencing the planning process of becoming an energy marketer using the resources provided by the Cooperators.
The Project Development committee is STILL awaiting confirmation of a delivery and installation date for our first community-funded solar installation at Ralph Conner United Memorial Church. The date is tentatively scheduled for August. Thanks, Covid-19, for the supply chain delays!
