RCUMC Community Solar Installation is Online and Generating Power!

Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative

Celebrating our first community-owned solar installation in the Bow Valley!

On Sept 17, 2021, we are excited to say that Jeff Roberts from BVGEC and Rev. Greg Wooley of Ralph Connor Memorial United Church (RCMUC) flipped the switch and energized an 11kW solar photovoltaic system on the roof of RCMUC.

The system is expected to generate up 12,000 kWhr of renewable electricity per year and to offset 7.4 tonnes of Greenhouse Gas Emissions from the electricity grid annually.

This installation is the inaugural endeavor by BVGEC to provide renewable energy to the Bow Valley and we are so pleased that RCMUC is host to our first installation. Thanks to KUBY Renewable Energy LTD for providing sales and installation services and the biggest thanks to all the BVGEC Friends, Members and Investors that helped to make this happen!

We want everyone to join us in owning a portion of a power company to help transform Alberta’s energy. Everyone can get involved and become a change maker. There are many ways to participate from volunteering, to coop membership, investment or by becoming a host site!
