Welcome to the Board - Jamie Goth!
Jamie, who lives in Calgary, has worked in both private and government settings. His diverse work experience includes urban and regional planning, infrastructure asset management, property development, environmental, social and strategic impact assessment, facilities management as well as his passion which is environmental management and sustainable development.
He is passionate about renewable energy and is carbon neutral at home with a 6.4 Kw solar array. As strong proponent of “think globally and act locally”, he is willing to share his experiences, wins and challenges in trying to minimize his family’s environmental footprint.
Jamie holds a Master of Science in Environmental Management from Imperial College London at the University of London, UK. He also holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Alberta in Geography. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, UK, and is also a LEED Green Associate.
His interests include exploring the Bow Valley – skiing and hiking. In addition to a love of cooking and great food, he is an amateur artist and greatly enjoys travelling abroad to experience other cultures, art and architecture.
Welcome to the Board - Andrea Johansik!
Andrea’s passion for the environment stems from childhood adventures in Alberta’s prairie, boreal, and alpine ecosystems. Connecting with these landscapes, and realizing they may be at risk, ultimately led her to pursue a degree in Environmental Sciences from Queen’s University.
Andrea has since worked in the environmental field in a variety of non-profit and public sector roles related to conservation, waste management, environmental education & interpretation, and climate action.
At the heart of her work is a drive to reduce barriers to action for individuals and communities to achieve a livable, equitable future.
Outside of working to advance Emissions-Neutral Buildings, Andrea can be found exploring the outdoors on foot, bike, or skis or stretching her creative muscles through writing, baking, gardening, and knitting.
Welcome to the Board - Jamie Olscamp!
Jamie is a Professional Engineer who has been working in various technical and operational leadership roles within the energy industry across western Canada over the last 15 years. Originally from New Brunswick, Jamie made the migration west across the country after obtaining his engineering degree from Dalhousie University.
Jamie is passionate about exploring how individuals and communities can work in parallel with industry to help reduce the environmental impacts associated with the consumption of energy.
When not in front of a computer screen Jamie spends every possible moment taking advantage of the spectacular trails the Bow Valley has to offer, whether that be on foot or on two wheels.
Retiring Board Members
We would like to thank founding BVGEC Board member Kamyar Emami who is retiring his role of director this year.
As a founding board member of the Bow Valley Green Energy Co-operative, Kamyar played a crucial role in shaping the organization from the ground up. His business leadership and insights were instrumental in developing BVGEC’s initial financial model, and core business systems helping to establish a strong, sustainable foundation for what we hope is long-term success.
Kamyar’s strategic thinking and commitment were key to the co-operative’s early development, providing valuable input that helped define BVGEC’s mission, structure, and community-driven approach.
In addition, Kamyar was an active participant on the steering committee that negotiated and installed the first community-owned solar panels in Alberta, located on the Ralph Connor Memorial United Church in Canmore. This project stands as a milestone in Alberta’s clean energy movement, showcasing the power of local action in advancing renewable energy solutions.
His contributions will continue to influence our organization’s direction and impact as a model for community-led renewable energy.
Thank you! 💚
