BVGEC - April 2020 Update
Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to hamper “normal” life in the Bow Valley and around the world, the team at Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative wishes the best for you and your families during these uncertain times.
Over the last month, our team has continued to move Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative forward. On April 10th we executed the “Articles of Incorporation” and are patiently awaiting the registration confirmation from Service Alberta. The Board is currently vetting the draft Bylaws for the Cooperative and developing our membership plan.
Other activities have included engaging with and seeking advice from SES Solar Cooperative (Saskatoon), Ottawa Renewable Energy Cooperative, and GeoResource Risk Management Consultants. These engagements allow us to learn from those enterprises already in the renewable energy cooperative business.
During our February engagement, we targeted membership shares to be available in April of this year. Due to COVID-19 related delays, memberships will not be available until later this year.
We also indicated that we hope to have investment shares available for purchase by July of this year. While this may be possible, we appreciate that during this time of uncertainty, investment is not at the forefront of most individual’s minds and we will wait for an appropriate time to re-engage with the community on investment opportunities.

The BVGEC team will continue to expand efforts to bring this community initiative to fruition and achieve our objective to “Make renewable energy affordable and accessible in the Bow Valley”.
