Role Description: Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper reports to the Treasurer.

The bookkeeper is primarily responsible for recording and maintaining financial transactions.

Accountabilities:

  • Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions, including

    • Update and maintain the general ledger

    • Track and reconcile bank statements

  • Maintaining financial records

    • Document filing and storage – invoices, receipts, bank statements etc.

  • Prepare financial reports

  • Assist with financial planning (forecast, budget, long-range plan)

  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements

  • Support tax filing and audits

  • Assist with cost analysis and financial modelling

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and level of accuracy

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficiency in spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel) and accounting software

  • General knowledge of accounting principles

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Experience

  • Experience as a bookkeeper or financial assistant is considered an asset.

The bookkeeper will be directed and supported by the Treasurer and members of the Finance Sub-Committee. The time commitment is approximately 5 to 15 hours per month with occasional periods of high demand (ex. year end). Most responsibilities can be executed remotely.
