Role Description: Bookkeeper
The Bookkeeper reports to the Treasurer.
The bookkeeper is primarily responsible for recording and maintaining financial transactions.
Accountabilities:
Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions, including
Update and maintain the general ledger
Track and reconcile bank statements
Maintaining financial records
Document filing and storage – invoices, receipts, bank statements etc.
Prepare financial reports
Assist with financial planning (forecast, budget, long-range plan)
Assist with the preparation of financial statements
Support tax filing and audits
Assist with cost analysis and financial modelling
Skills
Strong attention to detail and level of accuracy
Strong organizational skills
Proficiency in spreadsheet (Microsoft Excel) and accounting software
General knowledge of accounting principles
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Experience
Experience as a bookkeeper or financial assistant is considered an asset.
The bookkeeper will be directed and supported by the Treasurer and members of the Finance Sub-Committee. The time commitment is approximately 5 to 15 hours per month with occasional periods of high demand (ex. year end). Most responsibilities can be executed remotely.
