BVGEC Celebrates the First Anniversary of the I-Place Installation!
The Bow Valley Green Energy Co-op (BVGEC) is thrilled to celebrate the anniversary of our second community-funded solar installation at I-Place, a groundbreaking mixed-use development in Canmore. This project represents an exciting partnership between BVGEC and SBL Contractors Ltd and marks a significant step in advancing renewable energy solutions in the Bow Valley.
A Major Milestone for BVGEC
Located at 1 Industrial Place in Canmore, the I-Place Community is a hub for green businesses, sustainable vendors, and innovative mobility solutions like electric/hybrid car and e-bike sharing initiatives. BVGEC’s solar installation provides clean, renewable energy to support these forward-thinking businesses and drive the local transition toward a greener future. 🌞
A Community-Powered Success Story
The I-Place installation is another shining example of how community investment fuels renewable energy growth. As a cooperatively funded solar project, profits generated through energy sales will be reinvested into future local solar installations, as BVGEC continues to expand green energy access across the region.
Since the I-Place system electrification on November 7, 2022, the 127 kw system has generated 141.9 MWh of power and offset 95 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions in its first year of production, the equivalent of planting 1577 trees!
Looking to the Future
We are incredibly proud to support a project that fosters sustainable business practices, reduces carbon emissions, and strengthens the Bow Valley’s green economy.
A huge thank you to SBL Contractors Ltd., our member investors, and the entire BVGEC community for making this milestone possible. Your dedication to clean energy and sustainability is reshaping Alberta’s energy future.
Together, we can transform Alberta’s energy. ☀️⚡
