BVGEC - Oct 2021 - Investment Ready!
We are working hard behind the scenes, and we look forward to offering our investment share offering to all our registered members soon.
Right now, we have an investment window open to accredited investors. If you or someone you know is an accredited investor, we are looking for dollars to help seed our organization, advance our five upcoming projects, and help transition Alberta's energy economy.
As a valued follower here's how to support BVGEC by spreading the word about our fundraising efforts:

Our volunteers and board committee have been hard at work in the following areas:
The Finance and Administration team is working on an Offering Memorandum document to allow Members to invest in BVGEC.
The Communications and Promotions team has developed a Marketing and Communications plan which aligns the co-op’s core messaging with our new energy marketing arm which is currently under development.
The BVGEC website has been updated to include our new portfolio page and the communications team is working on crafting advertising materials for both host site and investor recruitment.
The Governance team is helping to prepare new investor communication to explain BVGEC’s pursuit of the energy marketing business with UtilityNet. The explanation will describe: (i) the business opportunity; (ii) how it fits into the cooperative’s mission; (iii) how it is expected to support BVGEC’s administrative overhead as we move through our early ramp-up of installing generating assets; and the steps we are taking to manage any risk associated with the marketing business.
The Membership and Stakeholder Engagement team is managing our Investor engagement process and building out our member engagement. We currently have 51 Members and 29 Friends. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining BVGEC as a Friend, Member or Investor, please take a moment to share who we are and what we are doing with them!
Looking for another way to help? You can also complete our volunteer survey and find a fit for your skills within our upcoming project work.
The membership team has been working to build volunteer support teams around our committees and has completed a proposal for the integration of a Customer Relations Management database and other tools to manage member relations and community engagement strategies
The Fundraising team is waiting to hear back about several grant funding applications submitted recently. Watch this space for exciting updates!
The Technology and Business Development committee has been pursuing various financing options for installing new generation facilities, and working with the Governance Team and the Board of Directors in investigating the possibility of securing a stream of passive income through the marketing of energy services.
The Energy Marketing team lead has developed a business plan for the new energy marketing arm which includes revenue project scenarios for review and approval by the board.
The energy marketing team has established a new trading name for our developing energy marketing arm - Welcome to the BVGEC team Rocky Mountain Community Energy! and is now choosing the perfect logo to align with this new name.
The contract with Utility Net has been drafted and is under review prior to a final sign off by the board of directors.
The Project Development committee has received the final system inspection for our first community-funded renewable energy generation installation at Ralph Conner Memorial United Church and final payment has been made to the installation company.
The installation at St Michaels’ church will have to be delayed until the spring due to the winter conditions and the steep pitch of the roof.
Stay connected!
