Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative was privileged to receive the award in the Energy category at the 2023 Emerald Awards last night at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton!
We had a fantastic time celebrating the environmental achievements of projects, organisations, and individuals from across Alberta and, best of all, walking away with the recognition of all our hard work to date.
A huge thank you to our Friends, Members, Investors and Host sites, who all helped make this accolade possible. We are humbled to recognise that our volunteer board of directors has put in over 3000 hours of volunteer labour since BVGEC's inception. There is not enough Banana bread and coffee in the world to express our gratitude to these fine folk.
We would be amiss not to recognise and appreciate the ongoing support of our parent organisation, The Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley, without whom BVGEC could not have made it this far. With their help, we could access grant funding from; (the now defunct) Energy Efficiency Alberta, Banff Canmore Community Foundation, Investment Readiness Program, The Cooperative Development Program and most recently, Alberta Ecotrust Climate Innovation Fund. Thank you for your belief in our work.
Finally, commiserations to our tough competition, the Metis Nation of Alberta, Climate Action Plan, and the City of Calgary's Residential Solar Calculator. Both are such amazing projects and being listed among them was an honour.
