BVGEC - Dec 2020 - Host Engagement

Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative is excited to announce that we have signed our second collaboration agreement!

BVGEC and representatives of St Michaels Anglican Church have begun the process to see solar panels installed on the church!

We are now working with both Ralph Conner United Memorial Church and St Michaels Anglican Church as potential solar host sites. The race is on! Who will get their panels first?!

  • The Finance and Administration team has been working hard and over the last month to develop a microgeneration project economics template, leveraging the support of an expert renewable energy adviser and supported by IRP funding. This, in turn, led to the completion of the draft 5-year financial forecast, which concluded the work on the Microgeneration Business Plan.

In addition, we have drafted BVGEC’s fiscal management policy and procedure to guide the financial management of the cooperative.

  • The Communications and Promotions team is working on building out our branding and marketing strategy in preparation for our upcoming membership drive.

We are also busily expanding the reach of BVGEC on social media as part of our Friends of BVGEC campaign.

We have begun collating a comprehensive slide deck to form the basis of our targeted community, host and investor information objectives.

  • The Governance team is working to finalise our member share certificates ready for our upcoming membership offering.

  • The Membership and Stakeholder Engagement team has developed a "social impact" program for BVGEC. This will build off our current engagement plan and explore Social ROI.

In collaboration with the communications team, we are planning for a spring membership drive and developing the necessary onboarding packages.

We have finalized a comprehensive member database in order to track and support membership development. We currently have 7 Members and 20 Friends enlisted.

  • The Technology and Business Development team is exploring the use, effectiveness and cost of flexible solar panels as a new opportunity for future installations.

  • The Project Development committee has shortlisted two suppliers to proceed to the next round in the procurement process for the Ralph Conner Church installation.
