Our 2022 Highlights!
2022 was another transformative year for Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative, with significant milestones accomplished. I want to acknowledge the tireless work of our volunteer Board and Executive for making this year, our second full year as a cooperative, a considerable success.
Renewable Energy Projects
We celebrated our one-year anniversary of the 11.25kw solar array startup at Ralph Connor Memorial United Church in Canmore. RCMUC produced over 11,000 kWh in its first twelve months and offset 7.4 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
We commissioned and connected our 127kw I-Place Solar Array on the I-Place Phase 1 commercial/residential complex in Canmore. The I-Place development is expected to produce 135,000 kWh annually and offset 90 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly.
We have two additional projects in the final stages of executing agreements.
Rocky Mountain Community Energy:
In Q1 of 2022, BVGEC launched an energy retail enterprise to complement our renewable energy projects. This new retail business produces revenue which we roll back into the coop and our renewable energy projects…keeping our energy dollars in our community. If you want to get more involved in “being the change”, we have volunteer opportunities in accounting and customer relations.
BVGEC looks forward to transforming Alberta's energy and continuing to make renewable energy affordable and accessible in the Bow Valley in 2023 and beyond.
May you and your loved ones have a safe and joyous holiday season.
